Do you enjoy the outdoors?

Are you interested in local food?

Would you like to meet other people and do something practical?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above then perhaps you’d like to help us prepare an allotment to grow food for a community café?

Café Sneinton, a community café based at Sneinton Hermitage Community Centre on Saturdays (for the past two years), has recently gained an allotment to begin growing food to serve at the café.

We’re going to be down at the site this Sunday from 11am – 2pm to start preparing some of the beds ready to plant in. Could you spare a couple of hours to come and help out?

We’re hoping to have some lunch down on the site too!

The allotment is based on Sneinton Dale and you can get there by taking the 23 or 24 bus from Lower Parliament Street in town and get off at the stop just after the Police Station (We’ll meet you at the bus stop). If you’re aged 16-25 years then we can reimburse your travel expenses and we’ll supply gloves, tools etc. Just wear tough footwear and clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy!

If you can lend a hand, please contact Rachel on 0115 9708200/ 07909 942163 or e-mail Rachel@partnershipcouncil.co.uk

The government is getting ready for a massive sell – off of our national forests to private firms. This could mean ancient woodlands are chopped down and destroyed.

But they need to push new laws through Parliament before these plans can go ahead. That means we have time to stop them.

Sign the petition now to tell the goverment to “save our forests”.
