         Sprout has teamed up once again   with Nottingham Organic Gardeners for another session at Whitemoor Allotments.

   If you are interested in learning how to grow your own organic fruit and veg then this is the place to learn all about organic gardening in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere!

   Sprout will be meeting at Whitemoor Allotments this Saturday 5th March at 10 am until 1pm.  We will then be treated to a free lunch made from ingredients grown at the allotment site!

All equipment, gloves and refreshments are provided.

Travel costs can be reimbursed for 16 to 25 year olds. Just show us your public transport ticket.

   Last weekend saw another session of Sprout volunteers and Nottingham Organic Gardeners teaming up to carry out work on the Whitemoor Allotments. Activities included weeding and mulching around apple trees, trimming hedges, completing the new path and putting in new steps by the bank.

   The next session that Sprout will be teaming up with NOGS will be Saturday 5th February.

   Nottingham Organic Gardeners are organising another potato day held on Saturday 29th January 2011, where they will be selling many different varieties of seed potatoes as well as giving tips and hints on growing, earthing up and chitting amongst other things.

Volunteers were down at the Whitemoor Allotments last weekend lending a hand to Nottingham Organic Gardeners where they helped to clear areas of the allotment, cut back and feed hedges and create a new compost area. The dates for upcoming sessions are:

22nd January – 10am to 2pm.

5th February – 10am to 2pm.

19th February – 10am to 2pm.

5th March – 10am to 2pm.

19th March – 10am to 2pm.

 Thanks to all volunteers who came along on the day and did such a fantastic job. We hope to see you all again very soon.

Happy New Year! I hope it’s a good one for you all. We’re back from our break now and starting to get back into the swing of things.

WANT TO LEARN TO GROW YOUR OWN CHEMICAL-FREE FRUIT AND VEGETABLES?!

We’re back at Nottingham Organic Gardener’s allotment this Saturday 8th January from 10am -1pm for the first of this year’s sessions at their Whitemoor allotment plot, Wilkinson Street, Whitemoor!

If you’re aged 16-25 and interested in learning how to grow your own fruit and vegetables by assisting a team of very passionate and experienced gardeners on their plot, then we’d love for you to join us. Please get in touch to let us know if you are coming so that we have an idea of the number of people to expect.

The fortnightly sessions are FREE and are planned for the following Saturdays from 10am-1pm (followed by a free lunch from 1-2pm):

  • 8th January;
  • 22nd January
  • 5th February
  • 18th February
  • 5th March

The sessions are designed to be very friendly and relaxed and are aimed at young people – whether you’re a newcomer to gardening or more experienced. It’s the perfect way to find out how to grow your own fruit and veg, whilst having fun and meeting like-minded people.

Every session includes a free meal too – made using ingredients grown at the allotment.  We can also reimburse travel expenses of 16-25 year olds if a public transport receipt is provided.
